Whale Sport delivered a Panorama Padel Court with Tent to FVR on the Costa Smeralda in northeastern Sardinia, Italy. FVR is one of Italy‘s most prestigious fivestar resorts, repeatedly named “World’s Best Resort.” Its sports centre already features multiple professional tennis courts, a football pitch, and an Olympicsized swimming pool. The addition of a padel court is aimed at meeting the growing demand for this social racquet sport among highend guests and at enriching the resort‘s yearround activity offering.

This project features Whale Sport’s proprietary adaptive dualmode canopy system:

Summer mode: The canopy cover is fully extended, blocking up to 94% of UV radiation while preserving the panoramic glass sidewalls, allowing players to enjoy sea breezes and views in a cool environment.

Winter & night mode: The canopy can be partially or fully opened electrically. Combined with 2,000lux professional LED sports lighting around the court, this creates a unique playing experience under the stars.

Structural integration: The canopy support posts share the same highstrength aluminium alloy framework as the panoramic glass walls, achieving a wind resistance rating of Beaufort scale 10 (24.5–28.4 m/s).

Additionally, the court surface uses a HeatReflect Turf system specially optimised for Mediterranean summer heat. Its surface temperature is 8–10°C lower than conventional artificial turf, significantly extending acceptable daytime play hours in summer.

Padel has exploded in Italy recently, with over 300 new courts added in 2025 alone. Facilities such as Padel Club Cagliari and Olbia Padel are actively expanding across Sardinia. The FVR project establishes a replicable benchmark for how luxury Mediterranean resorts can successfully integrate padel courts.
